Around Every Corner...

In NYC, and in fact every city, there are unusual details just waiting to be captured with your lens.  We just have to tune our eyes to see them. One of the best things about photography is how you alone get to choose what is actually in the frame and what is left out. It is that selection process that helps separate photographs from snapshots.  You are not just pointing your camera in a direction to merely record the scene in front of you.

For me, the angles and shadows of city stairs are almost always interesting.Chelsea Market stairs When you through in some splashes of color as well….  I couldn’t decide if this was low budget advertising or really artistic graffiti.

You never know what you might see.Jekyll and Hyde Club

And then, there are some things you will only see in New York.

Our hotel was directly across the street from the World Trade Center site.  Construction at Ground Zero went on 24/7.  We were up on the 40th floor and could look out to see the signs of progress.  The first building ,WTC1 is up at 60 stories and more is to come.
